THE DEPUTY GRAND MASTER MESSAGE 10, June 2008

To ‘communicate’ is to share ideas and impart information. Such is the purpose of our yearly gathering at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto during the third week in July.
Prior to the opening of the Grand Lodge by the Grand Master on Wednesday morning, 16th July in the Canadian Room, the Board of General Purposes will meet during the morning and afternoon of Monday, 14th July, and in the morning on Tuesday, 15th July, in the Ballroom. These meetings are attended by all Honorary, Elected, and Appointed Members of the Board, elected Officers, Past Grand Masters, and all District Deputy Grand Masters. At these meetings presided over by the Deputy Grand Master, reports are presented by the Chairmen of all Standing and Special Committees, and including the Editor of the Ontario Mason Magazine and the Program Director of Ontario MasoniC.H.I.P. There is ample seating provided in a ‘gallery’ for all interested Masons. This is your Grand Lodge at work
As President of the Board of General Purposes I cordially invite all Masons to attend, and especially those aspiring to elected office in Grand Lodge. It is an unparalleled opportunity to become better acquainted with the workings of your Grand Lodge, to become familiar with the programs and projects of your Grand Lodge, and to understand the administrative process and procedure followed by your Grand Lodge. Returning home to your local lodge, you may be able to answer those questions that inevitably arise when changes are made. I look forward to meeting and greeting you in Toronto, and welcoming you to the observers’ gallery for the Board meetings.
The legitimate object of government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done, but cannot do at all in their separate and individual capacities.
